Working in partnership with the Wessex Film and Sound Archive, New Dimensions has commissioned Grasscut to create a new work which celebrates and reimagines the wealth of material contained in the archive.
Grasscut are composer/producer/vocalist/musician Andrew Phillips and manager/musician/writer Marcus O’Dair. They have released three acclaimed albums, and have a particular interest in landscape and film. For this project they will be collaborating with Dan Vernon, a BAFTA-winning documentary filmmaker, to create a new impressionistic film with an original score.
The new work will be launched early in 2018 with a special screening event, details to follow.
In 2015 composer John K Miles was invited to create a new choral piece for Andover with the aim of involving local singers and communities. An open call to Andover residents resulted in the forming of community singing group Andover Voices and the participation of 4 local schools.
For our latest commission we invited composer Kirsty Devaney to work with Gosport Solent Brass to create a new work which celebrates the town and its communities.

This project began in 2014, when Nils Økland and Øyvind Skarbø were invited by New Dimensions to work with local musicians based at Coda Music Centre. Over the course of a year they collaborated with the Songs for Wild Horses Ensemble and Coda Community Singing Group to devise a new suite of music which was premiered on October 4th 2015.
